Abstract

The design of visual communication language is a communication concept that emerges from creative minds. It is applied in various visual communication language endorsed through the elements of graphic design comprising pictures, letters, colours, compositions and design layout. All these are done to send messages through visual, audio and audiovisual communication to target audiences. This research analyses a design of an industrial logo, that is, Starbucks Coffee. The study on media language to understand semiotics is vital, as language is the main component in channeling media information as communication processes, and generates meaning of messages. It functions to send messages visually that display pictures, signs or information that can be easily deciphered by all. Fittingly, semiotics is a study of signs or symbol (theory of signs). Semiotics analysis is employed in this research through taxonomy analysis (classification) focusing on a domain that will be the object of analysis. This research finds that the choice of logo made a difference in promoting a product which gives a lasting effect to consumers. The positive image created by industries via visual images or logo can contribute significantly towards industries and gives positive impact on the image of the industries.
