User-centric approach of software certification: The conceptual model

Abstract

In recent years, many large software projects often fail due to lack of quality of software product and processes. In order to increase the quality aspects of the software, certification process has been introduced in software industry. Previous fundamental software certification models such as SCM-Prod and SPAC were developed to solve the uncertainties in software quality. However, the models are based on specific requirements and have certain limitations. SCM-Prod model focuses on the certification and quality requirements of software product in generic software. It has been shown and indicated through previous studies and experiences in software certification exercises that requirements for user-centric approach is needed and demanded in software development as well as certification and quality management. Users should be allow to assess and certify their own products within their own environment at any time and focuses on the quality based on user's perspectives. This paper presents the concept of user-centric approach in software assessment and certification which also focus on the components and attributes embedded in this model.
