Abstract

Lack of computer usage and teachers resistance to using computers in the classroom may be due to today’s teaching method used by teachers. Some may be reluctant to use computers in the classroom due to pre-existing conceptions, even with numerous computer courses or seminars conducted and held by schools or government. This study was conducted in order to investigate the reasons concerning teachers’ attitudes towards computer in education at Sekolah Kebangsaan Balok Baru, Kuantan, Pahang. All teachers from this school participated in the study. The data in this study was collected through questionnaires. The findings show that the teachers generally have positive attitudes towards computers. The teachers did not experience any anxiety, they liked the computer and they perceived the computer as being useful. Teachers with knowledge in basic computers and skill will create positive attitude towards computer. It is important for teachers to have enough knowledge of computer use in this information technology era to help in students learning in order to satisfy the claims of educational reform. The attitudes of teachers towards computer use in classrooms play an important role in the process of technology use in education, even if teachers have adequate knowledge.
