Abstract
In this paper, the influence of waveguide nonuniformity on output power of 1 × 2 optical splitter is investigated in details. The waveguide nonuniformity, which may occur due to inaccurate fabrication process, is assumed to take specified periodic shape. Simulation results, obtained by optiBPM software show that waveguide nonuniformity affects the output power of the device, in particular, the output power of each path. This will, in turn, affect the power distribution in each path and degrade the output power ratio.
