Abstract

In the characterization of optical fiber devices based on either silica or plastic, many important parameters to be measured including inserts loss, excess loss, splitting ratio, reflection loss, crosstalk, isolation and also uniformity. Uniformity refers to the equally splitting ratio of output power to each output port in an optical device such as optical splitter devices. Optical splitter with good uniformity can be used to form demultiplexing devices. This paper will reveal about the transformation of the optical splitter to demultiplexer by using a special filter which uniformity is an essential parameter to be considered.
