The effects of personality traits on innovative behaviour: A preliminary study amongst engineering students

Abstract

The present study was conducted to determined the effect of personality traits on innovative behaviour. To achieved this goal, 93 students from faculty of engineering were selected. This study is used the Five Factor Model (Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Neuroticism and Openness to experience) to measured personality traits while Innovation Behavior (IB) was to measured student's innovative behavior. The results revealed that all personality trait were positively related to Innovative Behaviour. Multiple regression analysis showed that only Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion can be explained by innovative behaviour. Whereas, openness to experience was not significant under this analysis.
