    Abstract

Cooperative Learning (CL) has been well documented in the research as a successful way to improve students' attitudes toward Mathematics. This study examined the effects of CL on attitudes toward Mathematics of ninth-grade students in Natore, Bangladesh. One hundred and sixty eight students from four secondary schools participated in this study under the administration of a quasi-experimental design. The independent-sample-test was performed on the pretest and posttest which indicated that no significant difference existed on pretest between Experimental Group (EG) and Control Group(CG) prior to treatment strategies, but EG has significantly performed higher than CG on the posttest after treatment. The findings revealed that cooperative students outperformed the conventional students on attitudes toward Mathematics. This finding support the results of similar studies reviewed in the literature. Upon integration of CL in secondary Mathematics classroom, this study came to a conclusion that CL are more effective in promoting secondary students' attitudes toward Mathematics.
