Abstract

An important part of network management is software distribution. This is an area which has not been researched to the extent it deserves. It is becoming one of the most critical areas of network management in modern networks. This paper is concerned with the distribution of telecommunications service software in networks. It presents the problem domain, system requirements and design and implementation of a prototype system for such software distribution. It analyses and gives a critical assessment of the standards used in the development of the system. The paper concludes with a summary of results.
