Synthesis and characterization of new heterocyclic compounds derived from 2-aminopyridine

Abstract

In this study, eight new compounds of imidazole, pyrimidine, benzodiazepine, indole and benzimidazole heterocyclic derivatives were synthesized. These new compounds were formed through the condensation reaction between 2-aminopyridine with 4-phenylphenacyl bromide, phenacyl chloride, chloroacetic acid, malonic acid, phthalic acid, isatin and o-phenylenediamine respectively. All of the compounds synthesized produced of good yield percentage ranging from 75 to 96%. The synthesized compounds structures were characterized by CHN analysis, FTIR, 1H- and 13C-NMR spectroscopy. The data obtained give good support for the proposed structure confirming the condensation reaction of 2-aminopyridine with different organic reagents used.
