Abstract

The Berangkat Pluton of the Stong Complex can be divided into three units, namely Sg. Lah Granite, Bertam Granodiorite and Dabong Tonalite. The subdivision is based on distinct differences in rock type and distribution, petrography and geochemistry. Sg. Lah Monzodiorite is the core of the pluton and it consists of monzonite to quartz monzonite, has good porphyritic texture with random distribution of K-feldspar and is dark grey in colour. Bertam Granodiorite is the dominant rock unit and is light grey to dark grey in colour. It is moderately porphyritic and medium to coarse-grained. Dabong Tonalite occurs as an localize isolated body. It is found at the northeast of Berangkat Pluton and consists of medium-grained biotite hornblende tonalite to granodiorite. It has isogranular texture, light grey in colour and alignment of minerals is well developed. All units are classified as metaluminous rock and belong to the shonshonitic series. They are interpreted to have crystalized from one magma source.
