Study of the property of indium doped ZnO nanowires

Abstract

Indium doped ZnO nanowires (NWs) were synthesised by carbothermal reduction method in a small quartz tube. The NWs were characterised by FESEM for morphological study. The results showed hexagonal structure with diameter around 40-100 nm, and lengths from hundreds of nanometers to a few microns. EDS was used for materials composition and all related elements were found in the spectrum. XRD was then used for checking the crystallinity of the structure. Undoped and indium doped ZnO NWs were then measured using I-V method for checking contact behaviour between NWs and electrode. Some initial gas sensing characterisation has been performed by using 1% nitrogen-diluted butane.
