Abstract

An approximate method for the analysis of axially loaded stiffened flange plates is presented. The collapse loads of stiffened panels can be obtained by using the effective width concept; the stiffeners are assumed to be stocky enough so that their local buckling can be neglected in the analysis. The proposed method is calibrated against published test results of twenty-eight stiffened panels.
