Some radiolaria from the chert block of Lubok Antu melange, Sarawak

Abstract

Several species of radiolaria were identified from a radiolarite sample collected from a road-cut at Lubok Antu road. The radiolaria consist of Pseudodictyomitra cf. carpatica, Pseudodictyomitra pseudomacrocephalus, Pseudodictymitra sp., Archaeodictyomitra sp., Thanarla elegantissima, Thanarla praeveneta, Rhopalsosyringium majurensis, Xitus spicularius, Xitus sp., Stichomitra sp., Theocorys sp., Theocorys antiqua, Triactoma sp., Holocryptocanium barbui, Cryptamphorella conara, and Holocryptocanium tuberculatum. This assemblage indicates that the age of the chert is Albian-Cenomanian, Cretaceous. It is younger than previously thought. -Authors
