Safety of climate levels related to the safety management on empowerment dimension aspects

Abstract

This study was conducted to assess the safety of climate in the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry (MOA) based on the perceptions in handling safety aspects by the management and employees in order to improve the safety climate in MOA. The methods used in evaluation are questionnaires and interviews. A total of 205 respondents were randomly selected as a primary sample of the study which represents the entire department in MOA. The questionnaires in this study were designed using Nordic Occupational Safety Climate Questionnaire (NOSACQ-50) which is a diagnostic tool for evaluating safety climate status in an organization which was developed by a team of Nordic occupational safety researchers across seven dimensions. However, this study only focuses on safety empowerment dimension of safety aspect by the management. Overall, the result shows that the lowest mean score was 2.56 and the standard deviation was 0:40 for the management safety on empowerment dimension aspects. Therefore, this study recommended that an organization discover the best way to implement OHSAS 18001 or MSI722 to ensure that the safety climate in MOA will be improved, especially to employees and management.
