Abstract

Kaolin available in Messak Formation in Jarmah Member SE and S Sectors of Sabhá, Libya, Mesozoic was studied extensively using X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray Fluorescence methods (XRF), Fourier Transforms Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA), Thermo gravimetric Analysis (TGA). Chemical analysis methods and surface characterization parameters AAS, CEC, SEM and some physical property tests, including w, PI, pH and BR tests, were performed. The major impurities in the clay were found to be quartz.
