Rigid polyurethane foams from oil palm resources

Abstract

The synthesis of rigid polyurethane foams from oil palm resources was discussed. The diethanolamine and the potassium accetate were mixed homogenously in a ratio of 90:10. The mixture was continuously stirred in a 2 litre glass reactor and was reacted at 175-185 degree centigrade for 30 minutes. The result shows that the appropriate addition of natural empty fruit bunch fiber (EFB) improves the stiffness of the composites but degrades the strength property.
