Perspektif kawalan sosial tidak formal dan pengukuhan nilai integriti golongan muda

Translated title of the contribution: Psychometric scale: A perspective of informal social control and strengthening the integrity value of young people

Research output: Contribution to journalArticle

Abstract

Informal social control is a method of strengthening the value of integrity that effectively reinforces the misconduct of the young people. Empirical research on informal social control is less concerned with social science and humanities researchers because this method is reported took a long time to strengthen the value of integrity over formal social control. However, the implementation of informal social controls is confirmed not only reducing the cost of social and crime control systems but also forming the young people with integrity values. Hence, this study focuses on examining psychometric scales of social control in strengthening the integrity value of young people. In order to test the integrity value, the Informal Social Bond Theory was tested on 400 Melaka state students from four Higher Education Institutions, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Universiti Teknikal Malaysia, Melaka, Multimedia University, (MMU) Melaka and Melaka Islamic University College (KUIM). The Informal Social Control Scale Instrument is formed from the Social Bond Theory and the Religious Scale to test the value of the integrity of the young through Confirmatory Factor Analysis(CFA) and the establishment of Confirmatory Factor Analysis Model of Informal Social Control Scale. Findings show that multi-dimensional models of social control scales have achieved goodness of fit accuracy and achieve convergence validity based on significant relationship variables. This scale also achieves discriminant validity and predictive validity that supports the psychometric characteristics of the Malay version. This study directly contributes to the formation of an Informal Social Control Scale that is less attention to previous researchers.
