On the use of high order controller to improve the robustness and performance of pole-assignment controller

Abstract

A description is given of the use of a high-order controller for output-feedback pole assignment to improve the noise performance and stability margin. It is shown that even increasing the order by one and with modest computational effort a significant improvement can be achieved compared to the minimal order controller. It is also shown that by performing the optimization on a simpler criterion, a significant improvement can also be achieved.
