Abstract

The rapid development of electronic systems and telecommunications has results in a growing and intense interest in microwave electromagnetic absorber technology. Recently, extensive research conducted to develop efficient fiber composite material. The demand for the development of reliable non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques for fiber composite materials is ever increasing. Among the few available methods, microwave technique seems promising for non-destructive testing of fiber composite materials and structures. In this paper a non-contact microwave system for evaluation of rubber wood fiber are presented. Rubber composites containing wood fiber fractions of 0, 10, and 20% by weight were developed and fabricated. The mechanical and microwave properties of these composites were measured. The results shows that microwave system used in this study can be used as non-destructive evaluation tool for composite material.
