New transmitted reference receiver technique to lessen the MUI at WPAN

Abstract

In recent years, the transmitted reference (TR) technique attracted a considerable attention in the design of ultra-wideband (UWB) receivers due to its robustness and high bandwidth which fits the need of indoor wireless applications. However, several challenges are associated with the design of WPANs, and the most important challenge in the physical layer is the multi-user interference (MUI) where the traditional method suffers significantly from increased interference between users, which leads to a high symbol error rate (SER) value. The proposed impulsive correlation technique (ICT) addresses the MUI, with the increase in the number of users and in the case of concurrent schemes. The number of frames (Ns) for proposed design investigated, to achieve a balance between speed and accuracy of the receiver. An analysis of simulation results supports this claim and proves that the proposed ICT demonstrates better SER performance compared with the TR approach.
