Abstract

Four new dihydrostilbenes, malayheyneiins A–D (1–4) along with three known analogues, laevifolins A–B (5–6) and macarubiginosin C (7) were isolated from the leaves of Macaranga heynei. The structures of the compounds were elucidated using 1D and 2D NMR, UV, IR, MS as well as comparison with literature data. Compounds 2, 3 and 7 exhibited significant acetylcholinesterase inhibitory (AChEI) activity with IC 50 of <10 u M, while compounds 1, 5 and 6 are amongst DPPH scavengers with IC 50 of <5 u M.
