Monitoring and evaluation of the concentration levels of manganese species in the raw and finished waters of three water treatment plants in the Linggi River Basin, Malaysia

Abstract

The concentration level of manganese (Mn) was determined in the raw and finished waters of the three water treatment plants (WTPs) in the Linggi River Basin, Negri Semblian, Peninsular Malaysia. The results indicated that, the maean level of total Mn in the raw water of LWTP and TWTP were much higher than the maximum permissible level for raw water of 200 μgl-1 as given in the Guidelines for Malaysia Drinking water Quality (2004). The results indicated that, there is a close relationship between raw water quality and Mn levels in finished water at these WTPs.
