Abstract

An experimental study of the elastic behavior of a multi-cell structure is described. Two perspex models, one with solid webs and the other with web openings, are subjected to concentrated loads applied at different locations. Results from analytical solution using grillage technique and finite element method are compared with the experimental values of deflexions and flange edge stresses. Comparison of the results establish the accuracy of the grillage method.
