Abstract

This paper addresses the approach towards implementing Java and VRML environment for simulation of a real time virtual end milling process. This new method, which uses routing approach, is very important for communicating and message passing between VRML and Java programme. Using VRML script, all the nodes of virtual world are routed to the Java programme. The Java programme then controls the nodes in order to model the virtual 3D model of an end milling process through the Extrusion node and execute the simulation of machining parameters using the PositionInterpolator and CoordinateInterpolator node. This application provides the simulation for geometrical modelling of milling process and analytical modelling of machining responses specifically the flank wear on cutting tool.
