Abstract

In order for companies to achieve and maintain success in the long run, they need to develop supply chains that are sustainable in economic, environmental and societal terms. The efforts to balance that triple bottom line of sustainability will require framework, guidelines, and also references from academic and industry perspectives. The existing literature in this subject area have studied the conceptual and theoretical work on the scope of sustainability, the development of sustainability framework, and identifying the important factors for sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) design and implementation. In addition, research on the quantitative aspect of SSCM have emerged in recent years. This paper intends to focus on research that incorporate sustainability consideration into operational decision making in the supply chain. Particularly, the scope of the review will be on studies that integrate the economic and environmental aspects of SSCM in the decision support systems. The modelling approaches, methodologies, as well as major findings will be highlighted in the review. The review could be used as a reference for researchers who are interested to know in-depth about the recent quantitative works in the SSCM field.
