Abstract

The tropical fruit especially the lesser known species have the potential to be exploited. However, several problems such as propagation and conservation need to be addressed in order to utilize these species fully, especially because many of these species are woody and known to be difficult to propagate vegetatively. In vitro techniques can provide the solution and can be employed for the species. Micropropagation and cryopreservation of woody tropical fruit species namely, Garcinia mangostana, Lansium domesticum and Baccaurea polyneura are described.
