Implementation of AES algorithm in QGIS software

Abstract

Implementing cryptography on Q-Geographic Information System (QGIS) software is a crucial step to provide the software with an extra layer of protection on digital mapping against duplication from outsiders. With the growth of advancement in technology, copyright can be easily violated by irresponsible people to gain profit illegally. Therefore, this study implements Advance Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm into digital mapping in order to prevent duplication from happening. This is performed by encrypting the original map (called shapefile), and allowing the users to save only the additional information that they added on that particular file. Hence, if the users want to sell the duplication map with some additional information, they have to consult with the owner.
