Impact of aerosol optical depth on solar radiation budget

Abstract

Impact of Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD) on solar radiation components such as direct solar radiation normal to the beam incident on earth surface (IT), direct (IB), global radiation (IG) and diffuse (ID) upon a horizontal surface have been evaluated. Basically, daily, monthly, seasonal and annual analysis at long wavelength 500nm and short 380nm of AOD have been done using Bird model. However, during the analysis the paper observed that the percentage of losses on IT, IB, IG and ID at long wavelength were (26%), (22%), (6%) and (43%) respectively and the paper also observed that the ratio of loess on IT, IB, IG and ID at short wavelength were (18%), (15%), (4%) and (30%) respectively.
