Dextrose detection using polymer optical fiber (POF)

Abstract

In this study, a liquid sensor system based on polymer optical fiber to detect a type of glucose namely dextrose was studied. An optical fiber communication trainer consists of 850 nm wavelength LED near infrared (NIR) light is used. An oscilloscope is connected to the PIN diode receiver to monitor the variation of the output signals. Characteristics of the sensor system are determined in this study. From the study showed that POF is feasible for liquid sensing. From the experiment, the resonance frequency for the sample solutions with various concentration is 2 kHz with 1 V input voltage.
