Design of an array feed offset parabolic reflector antenna for a simple portable earth station

Abstract

In order to achieve a convenient portable earth station, an offset parabolic reflector with an array feed is employed. The radiation pattern of the array feed is synthesized to achieve high efficiency at the reflector. Moreover, the array feed is designed to operate in the dual frequency bands corresponding to the up and down links of a satellite communication. For this purpose, a dual frequency array is developed as the array feed. Finally, radiation characteristics of the portable earth station in the dual frequency bands are ensured through electromagnetic simulation results.
