Abstract

Melt-spun ribbons with a nominal composition of Nd9.4Pr0.6 Fe77.5-xB6Co6Ga0.5TixCx (x = 0, 1.5, 3, 4.5, 6) were prepared at different quenching wheel speeds (15, 20 and 25 m/s) and examined by using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Remarkably, the intensity of exothermic peak increases with both increasing solidification rate and TiC content in the composition. In both cases, increased peak intensity indicates an increase in the amorphous phase in the phase structures. In addition, the crystallization temperature of the ribbons was clearly affected by TiC content, which will be discussed in detail.
