Correlations between the Cohesive Energy and a Crystallographic Ratio in Group-II Chalcogenides

    Abstract

    Correlations between the cohesive energy per mole and a crystallographic ratio in group-II chalcogenides are presented. It is shown that the linear combination of the anion radius and the nearest-neighbour distance is a constant in these materials. Results obtained agree with works reported earlier. This work highlights the significance of the anion radius in determining the cohesive energy in group-II chalcogenides.
