Abstract

Massive-MIMO is recognized as a promising technology for the next generation of the cellular network (5G). Massive-MIMO uses very large number of antennas fro base station compare to the number of served users. Massive-MIMO promises higher data throughput and capacity for mobile networks. However, each base station needs accurate channel state information (CSI) during channel estimation process. Pilot contamination is one of the technical challenges due to a larger number of antennas that cause channel estimation error. This paper proposed Wiener Predictor (WP) and Coordinated Wiener Predictor (CoWP) for prediction during channel estimation. The results highlight reducing channel estimation error due to pilot contamination using prediction with Wiener-based approaches and coordinated base stations technique. The proposed CoWP and WP performs better than conventional channel estimation technique because of prediction using information that been stored and processed at the base station. The CoWP requires base station coordination compared to WP to assign collection and prediction phase between other base stations. The results indicate that proposed WP and CoWP can reduce pilot contamination effect.
