Beam propagation method study of wavelength dependent in directional coupler switch

    Abstract

    Different coupling efficiencies experienced by different wavelengths has been observed in directional couplers by using BPM study. This behaviour continue to be observed in electro-optic directional coupler, such as LiNbO3 when external voltage is being applied. This property can lead to the development of a device which has the ability to manage the distribution of various optical wavelengths between 1.10 μm to 1.55 μm under the application of external voltage of less than 10 V.
