Association rules of temperature towards high and low ozone in Putrajaya

Abstract

Temperature has known as one of the major factor that influence the formation of ground surface Ozone (O3). The statistical result has shown that the higher temperature causes the higher O3. However, at certain level of high temperature, O3 level are reduced. Therefore, this paper aims to examine the relationship and show the pattern of temperature versus O3 during high and low O3 using clustering technique and generate Association Rules to get the meaningful information. In this study, K-means clustering technique were applied on the dataset to determine the interval for variables separately and the rules are discovered using Apriori technique in Association Rule. The experiment was carried out using hourly O3 dataset collected from Putrajaya station between years 2005 to 2012. The stations have been identified as the most area with high frequency of ozone exceedance including Cheras and Shah Alam. The result found three type of patterns and 13 rules for temperature towards O3. The pattern for temperature high and O3 low also had been identified.
