Anticancer evaluation of crude extract of Gordonia tearrae against Chronic Leukemia Lymphocyte and Acute Leukemia Lymphocyte in vitro

Abstract

This study was aimed at evaluating the anticancer activity of the marine actinomycetes Gordonia tearrae on Chronic Leukemia Lymphocyte and Acute Leukemia Lymphocyte cell lines. Gordonia tearrae crude extract was tested for its in vitro inhibitory effect on Chronic Leukemia Lymphocyte and Acute Leukaemia Lymphocyte Cell Line. The percentage of viability of the cell line was carried out using Trypan blue dye exclusion method. The cytotoxicity of Gordonia tearrae on Chronic Leukemia Lymphocyte and Acute Leukaemia Lymphocyte cell was evaluated by MTT assay. Gordonia tearrae crude extract had significant cytotoxicity effect on Chronic Leukemia Lymphocyte and Acute Leukemia Lymphocyte cell Line at a concentration range between 25μL and 1.5625μL. IC50 value of Gordonia tearrae on the Chronic Leukemia Lymphocyte and Acute Leukemia Lymphocyte cell line was 25μg/mL-12.5 μg/mL and 12.5 μg/mL - 6.25 μg/mL respectively. Gordonia tearrae crude extract had more activity on Chronic Leukemia Lymphocyte than Acute Leukemia Lymphocyte cell line indicating its potential use as anticancer agent.
