Analysis of WAS interference to FSS earth station reception in C-band

Abstract

This paper presents the interference between Fixed Satellite Service (FSS) and Wireless Access Service (WAS) in the C-band for eastern Sudan environment. We analyzed the interference between FSS and WAS Eastern Sudan Environment and calculate the exclusion distances for the desired stations to ensure that the interference level does not exceed a certain level. Moreover, we calculate the total attenuations that may face these stations. Simulation is conducted by using ITU Spectrum Management System for Developing Countries (SMS4DC) software with reference to ITU recommendations to estimate the optimum location for FSS ground station without causing harmful interference to WAS stations. Our calculated simulation results gave an optimal interference exclusion zone when compared with ITU recommendation.
